The Junior Mathematicians' Problem Solving Competition, or JMPSC for short, is a student-run, non-profit math contest that's run every year, targeted towards all middle and high school students who are passionate about mathematics. We aim to provide a set of high-quality math problems to test your math skills and problem-solving abilities.
The competition is completely free to thanks to our amazing sponsors and will be hosted this year around August. This year will be our fourth year running, and we have had over 1,000 participants in the past three years! We have not set a date yet for this year's competition, but we hope you will join us!

Competition Information

The contest has two divisions depending on contestants’ skill level:

Division One (Veterans)

Division One is designed for high school students and advanced middle school students with substantial math contest experience. The problems range from early AMC 10 to late AIME levels.

Division Two (Newcomers)

Division Two is intended for students with little to no math contest experience, welcoming participants of all skill levels. The problems range from early AMC 8 to late AMC 12 levels.

There will be two rounds that are formatted the same way in both divisions:

Round I – Qualification Round

The Qualification Round consists of 20 questions to be completed in 45 minutes. All participants must take this round to qualify for the Finals. Each correct answer is worth 3 points, with no penalty for incorrect or unanswered questions.

Round II – Final Round

The top 50% of contestants from Round I qualify for The Finals Round, which consists of 18 questions to be completed in 60 minutes. Each correct answer is worth 7 points, with no penalty for incorrect or unanswered questions.
